Comprehensive Education of the Mind, Body and Spirit
Ficino School provides an academic, cultural and physical education that
engenders a love of knowledge and empowers children to learn, to
achieve, and to confidently strive to realise their full personal
potential both in school and life.
The contemporary and progressive Ficino teaching ethos originates from
the St James School in London. It utilizes practices that help children
to attend fully to their work with a quieter, more focused mind.
Marsilio Ficino (1433-99), is a classical figure of philosophy and
learning. His authoritative translations of the early Greek philosophers
and his extensive correspondence with the leading scholars of the day
were significant in the rebirth of Platonic thinking. Working from his
Platonic Academy in Florence, he proved a significant influence in the
Italian Renaissance and, as a friend to John Colet, was influential in
the development of the English Public School system.
