Meet the Teachers

In a Primary School much of what a child learns is from the example and presence of the adults around them. Ficino School teachers play their parts to the full. Teaching is seen as an important vocation rather than a job.

It is quite possible that a child will have one teacher for several years at Ficino. One advantage of this system is that the teacher comes to know the child well, as a professional 'friend' of the family, and therefore understands the child's needs much more fully. Regular contact with the parents is encouraged. This provides a good long-term relationship between School and home. There are also a number of subject teachers, including remedial teachers and assistants.

About
Peter taught at primary, secondary and university level prior to taking up the principalship of Ficino School. He believes education is about bringing out the best in people. For that to happen children must be presented with the finest material in the primary phase, when their hearts and minds are open but tender. They learn most from real examples, therefore selection of the highest quality teachers is of utmost importance. Our dedicated staff love what they do and share that love of learning with the children they teach. Our educational philosophy is that every child has unique potential and that given the right environment, that potential can grow, be realised and come to fulfilment in the service of humanity.
