FICINO SCHOOL'S 2011 SHAKESPEARE PRODUCTION:

THE TEMPEST

28th September to 2nd October
2011

CONGRATULATION TO THE CASTE AND CREW, AND OUR THANKS TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THE SUCCESS OF THE PRODUCTION.

Thanks also to all who attended, we had full houses each night.

"The opportunity our senior students are offered here is unique, not only in New Zealand, but possibly around the world. Shakespeare's words contributed so significantly to modern English, and his ability to express in dramatic form the foibles and ecstacies of human nature have meant his writings have endured for four hundred years and will continue to endure despite their compulsory study being removed from our national curriculum".  Peter Crompton, Principal

AUCTION OF PROMISES

The Auction of Promises took place at the Stamford Plaza Hotel last Saturday and was organised with incredible efficiency and dynamism by the Friends of Ficino.    Nearly 130 parents, teachers and friends of the school enjoyed halarious comedy from Tim Shadbolt and Gary McCormack, combined with great wine, food and a thrilling auction.    Together we raised around $27,000 for the 2012 Senior Renaissance Trip and the upcoming library development.   Thank you all for your generosity.

SUPER YACHT CRUISE on the Pacific Mermaid a great success

Over 50 people enjoyed a beautiful evening cruising the spectacular Auckland Harbour, on the Pacific Mermaid.  The guests were served a wonderful selection of delicious finger food and buffet dinner.  They were entertained by well know singer Malcolm McCallum.

Some interesting items were raffled and everyone enjoyed a fabulous evening raising funds for the library extension and the bi-annual Europe trip. Congratulations to The Friends of Ficino who organised the harbour cruise and special thanks go to the Winter Family for their generosity.  Once again this event was a great success.
